Sacramento River Salmon Fishing Report For August 7, 2016

Signs of the long awaited arrival of the Sacramento River Fall run Chinook Salmon have started to look up this week, as salmon have started to show up from the last full moon cycle between Ord Bend, Ca and the Barge Hole in Cottonwood, Ca. Some nice, bright Sacramento River King Salmon have been caught this week primarily between Corning, Ca and the Red Bluff Diversion Dam. Reports of Sacramento River salmon fishing guides catching at least one to two fish a day this past week have made the Sacramento River buzz with jet sleds running around in hopes of getting a K16 Kwikfish in front of the newly arriving King Salmon. Sacramento River salmon fishing guides like Dave Jacobs of Sacramentofishing.com and John Pearl and Mike Rasmussen of SalmonSacRiver.com have been putting quality King Salmon in their boats for their customers all week long.  When asked how the Sacramento River fishing was below the Red Bluff Diversion Dam, John Pearl of SalmonSacRiver.com replied, "Great if you can find a quiet place to put your lures where the few King Salmon are laying around. Even better if you are lucky enough to stay with a small group of Sacramento River King Salmon as they consistently are on the move up river to the Barge Hole in Cottonwood, Ca." With the success of the select few salmon fishing guides who are putting in the time needed on the Sacramento River to catch a King Salmon, the average salmon angler who may go out on weekends or after work for a few hours is likely to have very limited success when fishing for these brand new salmon. Down river in the Corning, Ca  area of the Sacramento River at Woodson Bridge, some Sacramento River salmon fishing guides are having success as well.  Jeff Brady of Brady's Guide Service, has hooked some quality King Salmon this previous week while spending the long hours needed on the Sacramento River to figure out these fnewly arriving King Salmon. With still no outstanding news to report on the Sacramento River, there are positive signs of daily improvement from the Sacramento River salmon fishing guides that continue to stay on the river and tough it out. Stay tuned as salmon fishing guides Mike Rasmussen and John Pearl continue to bring you up to date Sacramento River salmon fishing reports every week through the remainder of the salmon season here on the Sacramento River.
