The Sacramento River has finally come to life this past week. Despite the much higher then usual river water flows that have inhibited the striped bass fishing, for the first two weeks of the 2019 spring striped bass season. Who found great success chucking Reaction Innovations’ “white trash” swimbaits in the 4inch pattern. Accompanied by a 3/4 oz lead head, and slow rolled ( retrieved slowly ). The Sacramento River which currently sits at around 64 stage feet on the Colusa, Ca bridge hydrography. Is forecasted to drop 4 stage feet this week. Bringing the Sacramento River back into its banks and stopping all the excess river water from running out through vast bypass’ that confuse and divert migrating fish species. Species of fish that are heading up the Sacramento River at the current time ( spring run salmon, striped bass, white sturgeon, american shad, and some hatchery steelhead ). Finally it seems the stars have aligned for the striped bass anglers and fishing guides of Northern California.
